Torres del Paine Lodging Offers Multiple Options to Stay «at the End of the World«
Touring Torres del Paine National Park in its entirety may require more than 10 days depending on the expectations and time of our visitors. The Park has an extension of 227,298 hectares, packed with magnificent mountains, rivers, lakes, glaciers, and trails that will let you enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna of the place.
In addition to its immense beauty, the park is known for having very unpredictable weather conditions that vary from a sunny day to pouring rain and strong winds throughout the year or even on one single day. All of that, along with the long days of walking and carrying your backpack, will make you want to stay at a lovely place to refill your energy and continue with your journey. That is why the park offers a wide variety of places for you to stay. You will find almost a dozen paid and free campsites, in which you must book months in advance, due to the high demand of visitors. There are also 7 shelters and hotels for every taste.
Campsites, Hostels, and Hotels in Torres del Paine
Accommodations for tours in Torres del Paine range from very basic services such as places to camp for one night, and others with a bunk bed to spend the night and hot water for a quick shower before leaving. Most of them, being in a biosphere reserve that aims to protect the environment, do not have electricity during the night and establish schedules for saving energy and water, which is something you should consider before booking.
The campsites, Torres, Paso, and Italian are free of charge and require a prior reservation.
El Italiano is located very close to the viewpoint and The French Valley. You can simply leave your tent and backpack, and head to the beautiful French Valley, which is only 2 hours away.
The Paso camping area is located in a privileged area of the Park, opposite the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Like all of our free campsites, camping is only allowed for 1 night. Very close to this campsite is the John Garner pass; an ideal spot for taking pictures of Grey glacier and the suspension bridges.
El Chileno Campsite: It is one of the well-known campsites and shelters. It is located 2 hours away from Las Torres area, and an hour and a half away from the ascent path to Base Torres. There, you can return to the Base Torres area or continue to Los Cuernos. This campsite offers beds in shared rooms in shelters and camping, as well as food services and rental of tents and sleeping bags.
If you are looking for more comfort, we recommend Kau River. It is located in the town of Serrano, on the banks of the river of the same name, surrounded by beautiful nature and with an amazing view of the Paine mountain range. This lodge is equipped with excellent facilities and comfortable twin, private single or shared quadruple rooms, with a total capacity of 22 passengers. All of them include full bedding, a private bathroom with shower, central heating, and a closet. There is also a lounge and dining rooms for food service, as well as a small souvenir store.
The Best Hotels in Puerto Natales
Another good accommodation option for those who do not want to sleep in the park but still want to do different activities every day is Natalino hotel. It is located only steps away from the main town square of Puerto Natales and approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes from the main entrance of Torres del Paine.
